CUBE

2009

found wood, repurposed steel wire

8' x 8' x 8'

Albuquerque Open Space, Albuquerque, NM

Cube is a site-specific installation made in conjunction with Land/Art New Mexico, a statewide celebration. The piece is made with a segment of fallen cottonwood trunk at its core. Reclaimed heavy-gauge wire coils sparingly into open rectangular building blocks that surround the trunk. Cube represents the dynamics of the Rio Grande Bosque as a natural urban corridor, its cottonwood forests coursing through the growing metropolis of Albuquerque.
